Description

been having this idea kicking around in my head for sometime now... i've always wanted to draw a Mortar Headd (Marionette) decorated as if on parade via float, with banners and ornate armor decorating it, while people all over are festive and merry. this one i wanted a female mecha (i'll do other mecha's on parade as time goes on.)

so for the moment, this is the MK1 Mirage, but i plan to make it into the Mk3 (which will only exist in this drawing [maybe cause it's farther down in the future?.]

i started off by drawing the buildings at the sides and in the background so i had an idea of how to place the Mirage.

i wasn't entirely sure what i wanted in the way of poses for the arms... holding a sword?... nah... holding a banner in it's hand?... closer... in a meditative position with it's hands in the ways of japanese buddhist mantras?... much better.

i only wish i could present it at a higher zoom, but i've got that option set on max on DA. i could resize it, but that'll be down the road.

here i employed a very useful tactic, i drew a grid on the backside of the page, this way i don't mess up the grid as i erase and i have reference points (the grid) that doesn't distract the eye as i draw, or while being viewed. i used photoshop to do the symmetry, but i'll draw my own symmetry as i progress farther into the design. hand drawn, 11x14 semi-transparent paper. the mechs' left side is the orignal.

i'm normally not into mecha... it's so angular and stiff... but this is really amazing... wow. :wow:
