coloring done in adobe illustrator.
in the past i used photoshop to color my sketches. mainly cause i wasn't too sure which software would be best, since both are equally suited for the task. this is the first mecha i've done in illustrator (which exception of the Bohgon [brim star folder].)
illustrator did few things better than photoshop, and that was the Stroke/outlines that would be turned on and off at will, and i could play with the vector lines to my heart content. plus the gradient tool is pretty cool now =J, much better than it ever was in the past.
speaking of the past, here's what the rough draft looked like:

i know i could use my various puttys and plastruct, but working with cheese wax WAY is more time efficient, without any harsh chemicals to use; plus it's very affordable. once i make the kit, i'll cast it's parts with liquid Magic Sculp (since it doesn't generate heat) and from that copy, i'll make more. but i can only buy the wax on the internet cause there is no place locally that sells it.

Interesting that you chose to color it in illustrator.
