been playing around with color for this fella. most people aren't a fan of the brown colors, but i dunno, i like neutral colors and it was originally the standard. but, i decided to explore a little, no?
the black version is the first variation i did, (apart from the first brown version,) and i have to say it's quite smashing. maybe a little too dark, but a slightly "desaturated" charcoal black/gray would work quite well.
as for the reds... ya gotta have a red variation when it comes to a speedy suit ;D. here i'm playing with a few contrasting colors, but nothing uber in depth. it would appear that this suit is best-off with darker colors; imo.
all-in-all, nothing perfect. i'm just making sure the suit colors-out good enough before i put the finishing touches.
tonite, i feel the gusto to complete this design (sketched.) i should have time to finish color it as well since sketches appear to be colored quicker in Adobe illustrator than photoshop. plus i get the option of having automatic black lines =J... hopefully no one will call me to hang out XD
The bottom rows are my favorites, as well as the left-most schemes of the first two rows. Dunno about the others, but I like dark colors on mecha. They just look so bad-ass
... welp... didn't get it done yet. but, the good news is that all i have to do is the arms and then it's done ;D
feels nice completing a design, hopefully i can fit in time between the long-coming hours of 3D art homework and finishing up some other existing designs. blegh... for a month and a half.
anyway, i'll probably send the final in the evening of tomorrow night... ummmmm much much later today XD
Most of these feel too monochromatic, with the partial exception of the bottom right greenish one.
Overall the blue and red ones aren't working out for me, try working in more of the complementaries (Orange for the blue ones, and green for the red ones)
Might I suggest locking the pixels on a layer and simply going through with one brush stroke? A simple comparison such as this can make the difference between great color balance, and partial color balance.
Thats just my two cents. Overall I love these, and theres far more effort in them than most of the stuff I work on
i think the bottom 3 work pretty well the black stands out a bit more than the others though as for the reds try the dark red with orange highlights (just a thought)
prefer dark red one!
Great work on this one
